A pitfall is a hidden danger or problem. There can be many pitfalls during a move, including today’s topic:

Pitfall 7—Emotions

Emotions can be a pitfall. Moving is a very emotional experience. A move can be necessitated by a death or divorce. A move can involve saying goodbye to friends and family and everything familiar. A move can involve leaving a home that holds a lifetime of memories. A move can represent starting a new chapter of life, venturing into the unknown. It can be scary.

Emotions are a normal part of moving, but they can become a pitfall if they affect your decision making. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to prepare for the move so that you’re not cramming to pack the night before and adding lack of sleep to your emotions. (Of course, we offer full-service packing and storage to help if needed.)

Remember, common sense should rule the day. If you think your emotions may cloud your common sense during your move, plan to have a friend or family member with you on the day of your move to help you think clearly and make decisions.

Emotions is the seventh and final moving pitfall we will discuss. We are glad that we could share these pitfalls with our customers and prospects from in and around Roanoke, including Botetourt County, Salem, Vinton, Smith Mountain Lake, and Blacksburg. By making you aware of common pitfalls, we know that you’ll have the best chance at avoiding them and having an optimal moving experience with Heritage Moving & Storage, Inc.
