Pitfalls can happen during your move. A “pitfall” is a hidden or not easily recognized danger or difficulty. At Heritage Moving & Storage, Inc., we want to spare our Roanoke, Salem, Vinton, Smith Mountain Lake, Botetourt County, and Blacksburg customers from moving pitfalls.

Pitfall 6—Not correctly estimating the completion of a new-construction home.

If you’re building out a new house, there are other workers in the house trying to complete the build while we’re trying to move into the house. We’ve moved customers into houses that are three-quarters done with carpenters, electricians, etc., and other workers throughout the house. We’ve even moved customers into a home while people were painting throughout the house.

An incomplete house can create a dangerous situation for the movers and for the customer. Electrical wires, power tools, and other construction-related items can cause all kinds of problems and delays. Be sure that you are realistic and accurate on your home-completion date before scheduling your move.
